Feds fail to act, obstruct states in immigration battle.
Article IV Section 4 of the US Constitution:
The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.
In recent weeks we have seen the Federal Government through the Department of Justice prohibit States from implementing new immigration laws. The states obviously are fed up with the Federal Government's lack of action when it comes to protecting the states from invasion. I don't know what else you call 11 million foreigners flowing across the border.
The more you watch what the federal government does, the more you realize they are simply doing whatever they want. We have an executive branch that usurps power and sends our country to war without the consent of congress. We have a legislative branch that routinely passes laws that are clearly not among the 18 enumerated powers listed in Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution. We have a Judicial branch that feels that they have authority to legislate from the bench and "interpret" the Constitution.
Any American with a basic grasp of the English language can and should read this 4 page document for themselves. I dare anyone to read directly from the Constitution and tell me where there is authority for the EPA, for Dept. of Education, Dept. of Energy and many other government programs. The 10th Amendment is clear. Any powers not within the 18 enumerated powers is left to the states or the people.
In this case we have a Federal government that refuses to act and protect our borders, and then obstructs the states when they try to handle things themselves. If you think changing the faces in Washington will do anything to change things, you are dead wrong. That much has been proven time and again over the past 100 years.
Panhandlers
Given my profession as a truck driver I often have the pleasure of dealing with both panhandlers and women of ill repute (lot lizards). They both in the end want the same thing, money. The lot lizards at least are willing to provide a service, however disgusting you may find it. It occurred to me the other day that Washington DC must be something like a truck stop. Full of all sorts of nefarious characters looking for a hand out, pay off, or favor.
There seems to be a disconnect in society. I fear that the majority of people just think that government has all kinds of cash, and that government ought to give it away. They fail to realize that government gets there money from the people. They of course have operating costs, so a good portion is taken off the top to keep the government wheels turning. This allows one to justify petitioning the government for favor. Government is faceless and so big that surely they will give to a worthy cause.
So in come the panhandlers. The panhandlers have all kinds of hard luck stories and play on your emotions and feelings of charity. Now as a truck driver its my own money that they seek so I always say no. Government on the other hand, its not their own money. Its money that belongs to someone else, so its much easier to just say yes and get them out of your hair. Its just a drop in the bucket anyways, it won't matter that much. The cycle continues until all the money is gone, and there is none left. Well, let's just borrow some money, so we can keep paying off the panhandlers. So they borrow, now they have panhandlers and creditors to satisfy. What is the next step? Well, all those rich people, they have all kinds of money they don't need, let's take more away from them. So taxes are raised so government can keep paying off the panhandlers. read more »
