...from 'round the sphere this morning:
Supply means more demand...then rationing
Dick Morris points out the obvious in his latest column:
"Here's a point that's no surprise except to the "reformers": People with insurance use more healthcare.
"President Barack Obama seeks to cover 50 million new people. Where are the extra doctors, nurses, and so on going to come from? Neither the administration nor anyone on the Hill has proposed anything to add to the supply of medical services even as they plan vastly to increase the demand. "
And of course, this will lead down the road to the "r" word that the Dems don't want to talk about...
The tax man cometh...
If you paid even remote attention to the 2008 presidential campaign, you know that the Bamster went out of his way to avoid being tagged with the big spending, big taxing liberal Democrat label, going so far as to promise - repeatedly - that there would be NO tax increaes on his watch for anyone making under $250,000. The problem is that the people who work for him keep letting the cat out of the bag...
This past Sunday, his chief White House economist, Larry Summers, when asked about the campaign promise, said: “It is never a good idea to absolutely rule things out no matter what”. About the same time, one of his fellow Obama administration employees, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, was on ABC stating: “We have to bring these deficits down very dramatically. And that’s going to require some very hard choices." read more »

Quotable notables: Obama's Science Czar
It seems the guy that The One put in charge of science for his administration doesn't exactly believe new born babies are "human beings". From his own 1973 book...
“The fetus, given the opportunity to develop properly before birth, and given the essential early socializing experiences and sufficient nourishing food during the crucial early years after birth, will ultimately develop into a human being,” John P. Holdren, director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, wrote in “Human Ecology: Problems and Solutions”...
How people like this get anywhere near power is incredible.
Change the labor unions can believe in!
Remember that token order Obama gave back in April, ordering his federal agencies to slice a tremendous collective 100 million from their spending? You know, back when everyone started getting on his case about the few extra trillion he was going to add to the deficit? Well, now we've got results baby!
The agencies have finally come back with their report, and one of the items on the chopping block is the Employment Standards Administration...which houses the Labor-Management Standards office...which, as it turns out, has the authority to investigate the labor unions on things like corruption and embezzlement. read more »

* What a difference a President makes! (Not!)
From the latest "right track / wrong track" numbers from Rasmussen:
"Just 31% of likely voters now believe the United States is heading in the right direction, according to the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Down one point over the past week, it’s the lowest level found on the question since mid-February.
"Sixty-three percent (63%) of voters say the country is moving down the wrong track, up a point from last week and the highest finding since the second week in February. This finding is back to the same level it held the week in January that Barack
And here's a telling number: most African-American voters (56%) still say the country is heading in the right direction...down seven points over the previous week's poll.
This is in addition to the results from the latest AP poll, showing essentially the same thing.
I'm sure all this has aboslutely nothing whatsoever to do with his spending binge and push for a health care bill he doesn't want anyone to take the time to read. Nah... Couldn't be. read more »

From 'round the sphere today...
Hope and change?
A new AP poll shows that a majority of Americans now think that the country is headed in the wrong direction. Further, the number of people that think "The One" can create jobs, improve our economy and cut the deficit in a single bound has dropped by at least 15 points.
Debt and the economy
Now that our annual deficit seems headed to at least 2 trillion dollars by the end of the year, many economists are starting to worry about a debt bubble and its potential devastation to America's economy. (What took 'em so long?)
No "stimulation" from the F-22?
While our government has felt free to borrow and spend untold trillions of just about everything under the sun, including things the federal government has little or no business being involved in, the place where they find time to cut spending is one of the places we can least afford it. That being defense spending. Obama's already cut fuding for missile defense (despite missile threats from North Korea, to say nothing of future threats), and now the Senate has gone along with his plan to cut funding of the F-22 fighter.
When you consider how much money we've spent in the past year trying to "stimulate" the economy and create jobs, it's hard to see much sense in cutting production of needed defense technology that ALREADY employs people. read more »
