Romney weighs in on Southwick

Mitt Romney weighed in today on the battle in the US Senate to confirm federal district court judge Leslie Southwick to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Romney stated:
"Qualified judicial nominees like Judge Leslie Southwick deserve an up or down vote by the full United States Senate. Instead of playing typical Washington games with nominees, Democrats must act to give Judge Southwick a fair up or down vote. The Senate should not abdicate its responsibilities in favor of partisan loyalties. Politics should not stand in the way of giving a qualified nominee a fair hearing and full Senate vote, just like the Constitution envisions."
Exactly. Add to that the fact that the man was nominated for the job OVER A YEAR AGO, (June of '06).
Fortunately, the GOP Senate leadership is actually putting up a fight, w/McConnell leading the charge by offering a "Sense of the Senate" resolution as an amnedment to the Children's Health Insurance bill the Dems are looking to pass. Of course, Reid will try to table. We'll see.
