Obama Campaign Complains GOP Blocking Jobs Bill After Reid Blocks Jobs Bill [8]
After almost three years of hearing the same old insane comments from this White House and this President, the President’s campaign decides to jump on board and try to catch up to the stupid train. While the Senate Republicans tried to bring up the jobs bill for a vote in the Senate (which Harry Reid later blocked) the campaign manager for the Obama 2012 campaign issues an e-mail to supporters. This e-mail mentioned, among other things, that the House GOP was blocking a vote on the bill and that Cantor said he would not bring it up. The funny thing is that while the Senate Republicans tried to bring this up for a vote, the Obama campaign was telling their followers that the GOP was blocking the vote. But of course, like everything else that come out of the White House or this campaign, the opposite is actually the truth.
If this does not show those independent voters what kind of campaign this is going to be I do not know what will. What we have here is a very simple case of one side blaming the other side because the President cannot get his troops in a line to march to his drum. Because he cannot get them to march for him, he will blame the Republicans for not voting on the bill when the Republican were the ones trying to bring it to the floor in the Senate. The reason Majority Leader Reid does not want it to come for a vote because he does not have the votes for it to pass. So instead of being honest with the people who are following the campaign, Obama 2012 sends out an e-mail telling people a partial truth.
Why is this e-mail filled with only “partial” truths? Well, for one thing, Cantor has shown his dislike for the legislation and will will probably never call it in front of the House for a vote. But there is a political reason for that as well as a strategic reason. The Republicans want this voted on in the Senate first, so they can tell those Democrats who are on their tails about the bill that it was not killed by the Republican House as the President will try to claim it was, but in fact killed by the Democrat-controlled Senate. If this bill would be killed in the House, there is much more the Obama campaign can use in their fight against the House while the President goes from state to state trying to sell a plan not even his party likes. In this situation, the Republicans have the upper hand as long as they can make their message clear to the people: WE did not kill this bill, the President’s people killed it!
While it may not seem to mean much to some of you, it will mean a lot to the President when he will not be able to tell the people that the Republicans are the reason there is no jobs plan. He is already out trying to make the people feel bad. He reminds of a bum on the side of the street that used to give me a sob story about how his wife left him and he ended up on the street fighting for peach pits. The same thing is happening in this case, only the President has to know the people are just not buying the sob stories anymore, just like after I saw the bum who would beg me for money to get home come out of a strip club. (Just for the record I was NOT in the strip club at the time, just walking by. But that is not really relevant to the situation at hand.)
The President has tried to make this about the school teachers who will not be laid off and the firefighters who would not be laid off and that plays on peoples emotions. Him and his campaign know that there is almost no truth to what is being spouted off at these events, even though the people keep cheering for a jobs bill they fully do not understand. This is not about trying to get people to feel sorry for school teachers, even though that is a plus for the campaign. This is about you calling your Representatives and filling the lines hoping you will get them to see the error in their ways and tell them to vote for this package as is. The President wants this package passed right now, as we have heard him say so many times I hear it in my sleep at night. He wants no discussion about what goes into it and does not seem to want it changed. He wants to pass this as it is so he has something to run on next year, because he has nothing to run on at this point. If he loses health care next summer, he will officially have nothing to promote to the people. It will be a man who will have to say that he signed a stimulus package, a health care bill that was unconstitutional, and took so many vacations he should have enough frequent flyer miles for half of the state of Texas by this point. That is not something I would be thrilled to run on either.
No matter what happens with this jobs bill in the next month or two, what we do know is that it will never pass the House as it is written. We also know that it will never come up for a vote in the Senate as it is written, and it is driving the President nuts. If he cannot get his own people on his side for this fight, he has no chance of winning the battle. What should worry him even more is that by the day there are more and more Democrats putting distance between themselves and him when it comes to policy matters and legislation. When your own party abandons you, the only thing you can do is go to the people and blame the other party. It is a last ditched effort to try and make something out of nothing, but as it looks right now the Democratic Party, the Congressional leadership, and those in the Presidents inner circle have to be discussing behind the back of the President the chances of getting him off the ballot next year. It is one thing to lose the Presidency in a close vote, but to allow this man to be on the ballot and cost the party the Senate as well will not go over well with establishment Democrats like Reid. That is not to say I believe he will not run, but the Democrats in Congress have to be worried about what they are seeing.
