President’s New Revenue Plan Built on Taxing the Rich [8]
We all know the line by now “paying your fair share” and we have all really have become tired of the same rhetoric from this President day in and day out. We never get anything knew in the way of ideas or the slightest reason to believe he is willing to make a deal to get something done that will better the American people. We hear the President speak about how the rich have to pay their fair share, but the fact of the matter is he deals with companies that visit him in the White House that pay NOTHING in taxes. To say that he really cares about revenue would be the laughing stock of the internet. What he really cares about is trying even the playing field in his party and make himself look more electable when he knows his plan will never bring in the revenue he wants it to. This is what the President has been doing since he hit the campaign trail, and he keeps on promising what he cannot deliver. I think the people are catching on.
If the President, and even Congress for that matter, wants to make sure everyone “pays their fair share”, all the have to do is fix the tax code and get rid of the loopholes that exist. If we want to live in a nation with a tax system that is fair, a lot of work must be done to gut the system we use right now and unveil a new system that will be fair to those who are low-income earners as well as those who make a lot of money and run this economy. If we look to tax those who are trying to hire people in this economy, we will only see worse effects than we have seen thus far. I know many of you have your own ideas about how to fix the tax system whether it be a fair tax or flat tax system, but no matter which one you are in favor of we must look at these options and pressure Congress to do something about it right now before it is too late. Taxing those small businesses who create the jobs in this nation will do nothing to help the economy and we will see a recession to end all recession if we follow the President’s plan. He may say pass it right now, but I say step back and look at better options because everything this man has been behind has failed. Why give him the chance to redeem himself when there is just no money left. The plan I see from the President MAY shore up some more money to spend on other ventures, but that is not the government’s place.
More importantly, however, than the same old ideas this President has come back with many times in the past is the fact that he does not understand they will never pass the Congress. It would be one thing if they were decent ideas that we could discuss with one another and work something out, but these ideas are not in the least decent ideas that even some on the Left can get behind, let alone the Republicans running the House of Representatives. This is the reason I believe he has given up, because he is giving the same ideas he has given in the past and knows they will not work. If he can make the Congress look like they are the ones who are not doing their job, he believes he can win another election. With the way the economy is, and the talk that the President wants to do away with the Bush-era tax rates, the people are not believing it anymore. While they believe Congress is not doing their job either, the President is the figure head in this whole mess and the people are blaming him for the loss of what America has come to love. Those in the Democratic party who are starting to talk against the Obama plans are the same ones that stood right next to him when it came to Dodd-Frank, Stimulus, and Obama-Care. These Democrats are pushing away from him as fast as they can, and they are doing this because they know that their political future depends on it. This is why these plans will never gain any traction in the Congress, because we have entered the time of the lame duck.
I have laid out my plan in past blogs about what the President should do involving the economy and taxes, but rest assured a Democrat would never go for anything like what I have written about. What the people have to come to understand (and that is both on the Left and on the Right, and everywhere in between) is that we need real plans and real leadership in Washington if we are ever going to change the way this nation works. Look at the two men who are leading the race in the Republican primary and tell me these two men are going to bring “change”, and I do not mean the kind of change Barack Obama has brought to the American people. Which one is going to stand up for those living on the border and make sure the only thing that crosses are individuals who are allowed to cross and good that are meant to cross? Which one is going to stand against higher taxes on the people and stand up for a better tax system that is fair to the American people, not just those who can work the system? Which one is going to get back to a reasonable foreign policy where our enemies understand we will be their to protect and stand with our allies, but we will not start a war or get involved in a war unless there is reasonable cause to do so? Which one will stand for a more honest and open Washington where the people have their say and the lobbyists become a thing of the past? If you see one of those men in the two I have listed, Perry or Romney, please comment on this blog and tell me why you think that way. I would love to see the responses that come in.
We are a nation in need of leadership, and we are a nation that will no longer exist as we have in the past if we do not do something about our problems. At some point we have to say that even the people of this country messed up by electing those who would not listen to the people and think of plans how we can get back to the basics. When you are a baseball team and you are struggling in the field, the coach will make you go out during practice and practice the basics of fielding the ball, because the team obviously needs it. Maybe the American people are not that much different than a baseball team that needs a refresher on how to get back to the basics so we can save this economy and this country. With the turmoil that the world is facing right now it is easy to say we should spend more bad money on projects that never work, but at the end of the day the more money we spend the bigger whole we are in. I love this nation and I know most of you out there feel the same way. We owe it to owe fellow countrymen and women to do right when it comes to allowing the people of this country to stand on their own two feet and do what needs to be done to make a better life for themselves. After all, is that not why people still come to this nation to this day? Are they not looking for a life where they can start a business and be successful if they have a product people want? Those in business do not want the government to help them, they want the government to stand back and allow them to create a product or service that people want. If we are to get back to the American values that built this nation strong, the people have to be strong and tell those in Washington they will not be pushed around any longer.
