This is a blog post for the democrats and politically uneducated among us. You can use this in your own debates. The class warfare has really been ratcheted up over the debt ceiling debate. It is really easy to identify once you know what to look for.
Here is an example from one of Obama's speeches. "How can we ask seniors to pay more for medicare, and not ask corporate jets owners to pay their fair share."
This statement is made for one reason and one reason only. Hate the corporate jet owner and feel sorry for the senior citizen. It does not matter that the top 10% of wage earners pay 73% of the total federal income taxes. It does not matter that congress has raided the medicare and social security funds and depleted them. It is clearly said to raise taxes on the "rich"
Now let me put a twist on this same statement and show how ridiculous it is. "How can we ask third world dictators to not expect our foreign aid, and not expect corporate jet owners to pay more taxes to send to those third world countries."
Here is another one. "How can we expect the United Nations to live without the United States paying 22% of their budget, and not ask rich people to pay higher taxes."
Another one. "How can we cut off funding to illegal immigrants seeking medical care, and not ask rich people to pay higher taxes to pay for those illegal's medical care."
The difference is that class warfare pits American against American. It totally leaves out huge parts of the budget that go to foreign countries and organizations. It's always rich vs grandma, corporate jets vs children with autism, oil companies vs little Jimmies college grant.
Now you know how to recognize class warfare and what a joke it is. It is simply laid out there to get an emotional response from you. Do not fall for it.
PS. Ask yourself this one question. What is the origin of debt to those rich people? Why should they be made to pay more when others pay nothing? Would the situation change if those who receive benefits from government were forced to go directly to that rich person and demand payment?
