How are Americans supposed to react to lawmakers, when these same lawmakers don't do as they tell us to do? It would seem like their laws and suggestions would be recieved better if they themselves would "practice what they preach."
U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood is one that obviously does not "practice what they preach" because he will one time say 'Buy America' but turn around and tell a family member to 'buy a Japanese car?' How are we supposed to react to actions like this?
Now, I know that the president has to be protected at all times, so it is not expected of him to ride around in a 'fuel efficient' car, a car that would not be able to protect him in-case of an attack. But to go in front of a bunch of Americans who in some cases are unemployed or working at an underpaid job because of lack of good jobs and 'preach' that to deal with the high gas prices they need to trade in their 'big suvs.' But to allow his appointed Secretary of Transportation ride around in a behemoth of a vehicle to tell Americans he knows how to save money at the pumps - if they will listen to him - is a joke.
Yesterday, Ray LaHood tweeted "Helping Americans make better-informed car buying decisions saves families $$$ at the gas pump" but he rode to the 'unveiling of the new fuel economy labels' in his ride of choice - this 12-mpg Chevy Suburban SUV.

From Ray's blog after announcing the "new fuel economy lables" for new cars and trucks. "That's why President Obama has had us working so hard on these new labels. Helping Americans make better-informed decisions saves them money at the pump."
On another note remember 'the BP oil disaster?' Obama was all up in BP's CEO Tony Hayward head about the oil spill. Obama placed an illegal 'drilling moratorium' for all in the Gulf of Mexico. Obama's men fill up the president's limo nick-named 'The Beast' at a BP gas station in London. Was that the only gas station around?

These politicians in the future need to start practicing what they preach if they expect people to start listening to their 'sermon's.' But until then don't be surprised to read articles like this one.
White House: No more full-size vehicles unless essential
President Barack Obama has an order for federal agencies: No more driving full-size sedans or SUVs unless it is absolutely necessary.
That means fewer Chevrolet Impalas and more Cruzes. Fewer Ford Taurus sedans and more Ford Fiestas. More federal workers driving around in smaller vehicles rather than gas-guzzling SUVs.
In an order today, Obama said government agencies should limit "optional equipment to what is essential to meet agency mission, and be midsize or smaller sedans, except where larger sedans are essential to the agency mission."
