Obama's Media-Forgiven 'Quayle Factor'

Over the course of the last few days, Democratic front-runner Barack Obama has made several verbal missteps.  But, I've seen little-to-no mention of these things in the liberal mainstream media.

First, there was the issue last Friday where Obama mistakenly stated there were 57 states, saying:

"It is just wonderful to be back in Oregon.  Over the last 15 months we've traveled to every corner of the United States.  I've now been to fifty-seven states?  I think one left to go.  One left to go.  Alaska and Hawaii, I was not allowed to go to, even though I really wanted to, but my staff would not justify it."  Watch the video

Then on Tuesday, while in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Obama made the mistake of claiming we need to deploy more Arabic-speaking translators in Afghanistan... where they DO NOT SPEAK ARABIC.

"Right now, we don't have enough troops, and NATO hasn't provided enough troops because they are still angry about us going into Iraq.  So we just don't have enough capacity right now to deal with... and it's not just troops, by the way!  It's like Arab... Arabic interpreters, Arab language speakers, we only have a certain number of them, and if they're all in Iraq, then it's harder for us to use them, and... obviously they may not speak Arabic, but the various dialects that they speak in Afghanistan, oftentimes people who speak Urdu or Pashtu or whatever the languages are, they're going to be needed in those areas, and a lot of them have ended up being placed elsewhere."

It's Dari and Pashtu, which are the predominantly spoken languages of Afghanistan.

Now, we have the latest bone-headed blunder that has come about.  Senator Obama, while making a stop at a Detroit auto plant, blew off female news reporter, Peggy Agar, of WXYZ saying, "Hold on one second, sweetie!  We're going to do a press avail."  Watch the video

There's no question that the press, time and again, goes easier on the members of the political left.  But, this jaw-dropping comedy of errors, all which have transpired just over the course of mere days, has gone almost totally unmentioned by the MSM.  If you're not privy to the ways of YouTube or regularly checking the latest from the political blogs, you're likely unaware of these things as a potential voter.

Things come into perspective pretty dramatically when you consider that we're almost 16 years removed from a former vice-president putting an 'e' at the end of 'potato'.  Pretty unfair, seeing how Quayle didn't have his teleprompter either, while visiting that classroom.

More Obama

Submitted by Steve McCullough on Thu, 05/15/2008 - 4:50pm.

How about this one?: "It is sad that President Bush would use a speech to the Knesset on the 6Oth anniversary of Israel's independence to launch a false political attack".This in response to President Bush saying that "Some seem to believe we should negotiate with terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along." Where is the "false political attack, Barack? Touchy, aren't we?
