Obama fatigue at Barnes and Noble
Can we flood America's bookstores with a wealth of fawning coverage of the Bamster? It would seem that "Yes we can!"
As I'm sure everyone has noticed lately, there's an abundance of Obama related books in your local bookstore. And I do mean an abundance. Everywhere you look...front display tables, behind the counter on the wall, and of course anywhere near "current events / social science" sections.
There are books about "how he won", books about "what it means", books consisting of nothing but pictures of the inauguration and at least two that are simply reproductions of the text of his inaugural address.
I've noticed this for a while now, but on the way out of Barnes and Noble the other night I decided to count just how many such books and magazines I came across.
Now mind you, spent a grand total of five minutes at this. Walking past the "current events" section...then the "new releases" and the display tables up front, I counted 25 books on Obama. And I'm NOT counting any of the "anti-Obama" books...only those that looked like they offered some sort of fawning coverage.
And then there was the magazine rack by the door. May I just say, please, please, please.
A grand total of 13 with Barack and/or Michelle on the cover. Again, not counting any conservative magazines or journals.
And speaking of Obama books, let's not forget that Bambi cut his own book deal just days before taking office...and pocketing a 1/2 million dollars in the process...for a forthcoming book.
And there's Michelle, who will be a super-hero in her own comic book coming out next month.
Oh, and now his sister has a book deal too.
Better make some more room on the shelves at Barnes and Noble.
