One of the most important elements in any type of conflict is to control the ground you fight on.  In politics, that usually means controlling the issues that will be discussed.  And for Republicans in the pending fight over the debt limit, that means taking the issue of defaulting on our debt payments off of the table and focusing on spending.

In our country’s fiscal wars there have been three major moving parts: 1) taxes, 2) spending and 3) borrowing.  Republicans don’t want tax increases and Democrats don’t want spending cuts, which left borrowing to finance the spending.  But now increasing payments on borrowing threaten to gobble future revenue for spending and mandate future taxes; which brings us the recurring battles over the debt ceiling.

Despite the tax hikes in the recent “fiscal cliff” deal, neither Obama nor any Democrats will publicly state that the rich are now “paying their fair share”.  They know that with the great unwashed, the politics of envy (AKA, jealousy) is always gold.

They also know that facing up to spending means facing up to reality, and facing reality means making choices, which will set some elements of the Democrats’ coalition at odds against each another.  If pretty much your entire political party is built out of constituent groups bought off with tax dollars, then you better keep the punch-bowl filled or the party’s over.  read more »

Fighting the establishment doesn’t come naturally to conservatives. Playing by the rules, we don’t rage against the machine—we embody it. By contrast, liberals, so smug and high-minded, identify themselves as the undisputed guardians of righteousness: Hope, change, compassion, acceptance, tolerance. And cool, so damn cool. Now, that’s progressive.

Funny thing about conventional wisdom, especially when you’re the one defining it. Sometimes it just isn’t true. The left in America controls the Presidency and Senate, mass media, entertainment and academia; our politics, press, culture and education. Think about it. Beyond the vulgarities, ridiculing traditional values and exploiting the downtrodden—it is clear liberals have become the establishment they so loathe.

Well yeah I know, as told to me by really smart people, corporations are indeed nothing more then a structure used to define a companies formation. But I also know that that structure dictates mainly how the employed corporate officers are to be designated. The word “corporation” derives from corpus, the Latin word for body, or a “body of people.” Arguing this point is merely semantics and really not fruitful.  read more »

The only acceptable hate speech in this day and age is mocking and venting hatred at Christians. I have the misfortune of living in Madison, Wisconsin, the belly of the beast of Christian hating progressives; not many days can go by without seeing the “Darwin Fish” on a vehicle. The word Darwin is inserted into the traditional Christian fish symbol and feet added to it. While there are a number of theories how this symbol originated as a Christian symbol, archeological evidence dates it back to the 1st and 2nd centuries A.D.

While, the Christian haters can have all the pro-evolution bumper stickers they want, but using a 1,800 year only religious symbol to mock that religion should be considered hate speech. Why aren’t Christians filing hate speech charges? Why aren’t we confronting the vehicle drivers? Why do we passively sit back? There are hate speech laws, but we are we not asking they be enforced? Get a picture of the car and the license plate; send it to your district attorney, demand enforcement of the hate speech laws. DA’s all have access to a license plate database; they can find out the vehicle’s owner in seconds, if they want to. If you are parked near a vehicle with a Darwin Fish on it, there no reason you cannot tell the driver of the vehicle how offensive and intolerant he/she is.  read more »

Two Americas exist in the imaginings of popular entertainment and media. One is a multicultural utopia cosseted in mawkish high-mindedness; the other makes Thomas Hobbes description of humanity as “poor, nasty, (and) brutish,” sound overly optimistic.

MTV’s newest reality shows “Buckwild” and “Washington Heights” cynically indulge both stereotypes. For anyone inclined to tune in, be forewarned: This is elitist exploitation at its contemptible worst.  read more »

I am amazed at what I see as an amazing paradox forming this countries political landscape. On one hand, you have governors from not so conservative states signing legislation that would help balance their budgets and stop the mass exodus of business leaving their states for much more fertile ground. Scott Walker in Wisconsin and now Governor Snyder in Michigan have popular support, evidence was obvious after the failed recall election in Wisconsin. John Kasich of Ohio, and Mitch Daniels of Indiana both took similar bold steps to help their states become more competitive in their pursuit of attracting businesses to their states.What these governors along with their state houses are doing is governing. They are providing bold leadership while pointing their respective states in a fiscally sound direction all the while taking responsibility for their plans. Two thirds of the government is controlled by one party. A party that believes in a larger, more intrusive, centrally run government that only seems interested in social justice, and regulating business. A party that is not lead by a president with deep convictions, but by a community organizer who still thinks he belongs in front of a Chicago tenement with a bullhorn.Yesterday in Lansing, right on cue the campaigner in chief shows up at a rally to whip up his union foot soldiers into a frenzy by calling the new Michigan law making the state a right to work state a ridiculous law.

Welcome to our latest national “conversation” about guns, a conversation demanded by those who have lost all recent conversations about guns.

It features an extremely loathsome group of politicians and other opponents of the Second Amendment who want to exploit the deaths of the young children in Newtown, Connecticut in order to advance a political agenda.  In fact, New York Democrat congressman Jerrold Nadler even used the word exploit, suggesting they can pass new gun restrictions “if the President exploits it”.

After such tragedies the cry is always to do something, anything, in order to make the story go away.  Then there is a rush to pass a law – any law – and rushed laws are almost always bad.  And it’s in such times that enemies of liberty always creep in hoping to use the moment to push their agenda before people calm down and look at things rationally.

But since liberals insist on having this conversation, let’s take a moment to review some things that we know, and that the left will surely overlook.

We know that over forty percent fewer homicides are committed with guns than those without guns.  We know that violent crime is at a thirty-seven year low.  We also know that this drop in violent crime coincided with a boom in gun ownership and states allowing concealed weapons permits.  read more »

Yes Republicans were gut punched this last election. The re-election of a failed president, being rejected by half of the electorate can be a bit disheartening. Well I may be able to offer a bit of chin lifting inspiration to conservatives, Republicans or just people that think we are in a permanent downward spiral. With the prospect of another four years of out of control spending and little hope of Obama Care being repealed things look bleak especially when you you hear media oulets trumpet polls telling us Hillary Clinton is a shoe in for POTUS in 2016.  read more »

The bodies of more than two dozen teachers and young children were still lying in pools of blood on the classroom floors of Sandy Hook Elementary, yet the special interest flacks, pundits and psycho-babblers descended like vultures on carrion. The gun-control zealots. The pro-Second Amendment advocates. The mental health experts. The we’re-going-to-Hell-in-a-hand-basket crowd.
