In honor of National Nurses Week, I thought I’d pose the question: What are American nurses’ actual responsibilities these days?

Last week while researching a column on Obama’s pandering to various interest groups, I noticed that his campaign website featured a page, grouped with pages for various demographic categories, devoted to Nurses.  What was that about, I wondered?  Was Obama shoring up support for Obamacare with a key segment of the medical profession?

I’d like to suggest another reason: nurses are the new Teachers, the apocryphally underpaid, overburdened sirens of the service industry who make heroic sacrifices to nurture their tender underlings.

Not at the hospital I spent last week at, they didn’t.

After suffering a spontaneous pneumothorax (collapsed lung), I entered the emergency room of a midtown Manhattan hospital for surgery that involved suctioning excess air out of the space between my left lung and chest and allowing the lung to reinflate.  When it collapsed again two days later, doctors performed a more advanced surgery.  Two days with tubes in my chest, a day of observation, and I was home.  read more »

Modern political liberalism is a lot like the old triangle trades of the 18^th century, in which crops were traded for manufactured goods which were then used to buy slaves, which were then sold to planters in exchange for more crops.

On the modern liberal plantation the formula has changed to “bigger government = more people dependent on (or at the mercy of) government = more votes for politicians who will further expand government”.

It’s a heck of a way to run a country, but liberals have gotten a lot of mileage out of it.  Obamacare is just the latest example.  It is one of the ultimate triumphs of political liberalism in America, which is why Joe Biden whispered to Obama at the signing ceremony that it was “a big f@*&ing deal”.

Joe was right, which means that the current Supreme Court case is a big deal too.

The impact of how the Court ultimately rules will reverberate across the country and impact every citizen and their relationship to every level of government from this point forward.

At its essence the case has nothing to do with health care.  It’s all about whether or not our Constitution has any limits.  Are there real boundaries to federal power, or are they just made up on the fly?  Is Congress able to determine the scope of its own power?  The founders would be aghast that we even have to ask such questions.  read more »

Yes, boys and girls, it’s story time again… and have we got a whopper for you. This is a story about what may be one of the largest information conspiracies in recent memory. You won’t find it in any history books, you won’t find it in any of the revisionist propaganda they’re pumping into our kids’ heads, you sure won’t find it in any publication of the Lame Stream Media… that’s because they are a huge part of the story.

President Eisenhower once said, “Beware of the military-industrial complex”. Today, that caution could as easily read, “beware the Government / ‘Main Stream Press’ complex.” It’s not just that Washington is pandering to the press… the pols in Washville have long been media whores, vying with one another for as much ‘face’ time as they can get.

Ok, this is the way I wish to start my new adventure in blogging (is it still called blogging these days?). I have looked at life through reasonably rational eyes these 40 some years I've walked this earth. I've noticed a few things in these last few years, months, weeks, and days. This is my view of those things.

What is wrong with calling a spade a spade? I have recently read that it is racist to call someone an "illegal alien". They say we should call them "undocumented workers". Well I say the reason they're "undocumented" is that they don't have documents due to the fact that they are here....wait for it....ILLEGALLY. It reminds me of the "you might be a redneck" stuff from a few years ago. If you had to run through a desert, swim a river, or hire someone called a coyote to get here, then you just might be an illegal alien. So, I'm going to keep calling them what they are, people who are in MY country illegally, illegal aliens or if you prefer, criminal aliens. A small bit of advice, if they don't want their feelings hurt by being called what they are, illegally in this country, then maybe they should either stay in their own country or actually do what most people do...follow the rules to gain entry into the United States.  read more »

“When you buy from a mom or pop business, you are not helping a CEO buy a third vacation home.” Nor are you helping the approximate 58 million Americans who work for “large corporations”. By shopping exclusively with “mom and pop”, you are playing a role in the liberal guilt-trip on the American consumer that demonizes the successful at the expense of everybody else. Sure, the CEO may be a sleaze, but the guy in the mailroom needs his paycheck and benefits package, too.

Yes, Mom and Pop start-ups create more jobs, but they also lose them just as quickly. The longevity of a business, which is almost always marked by growth (ie small business moving towards “bigness”) is a better indicator of job security, better pay and benefits. Will you turn your back on Mom and Pop when they get too big? What is the cut-off between your support of Mom and Pop and your vilification of “Big Business”? Instead of “too big to fail” are you promoting a “too big to succeed” policy for the American economy?  read more »

Up till now, the most accurate reporting the mainstream media have done on the Trayvon Martin-George Zimmerman case has been relaying the fact that Martin had Skittles and iced tea on him when he was shot.  At the rate they’re going, I won’t be surprised if it emerges that he was actually carrying Pop Rocks and Four Loko.

Here is a partial list of the wild, reckless, irresponsible claims the left-leaning media have made in the Martin-Zimmerman case, every one of which has been rendered highly suspect or outright false:

Zimmerman is a white racist who killed Martin because he was black.

Multiple acquaintances of Zimmerman’s, including black friends, testified to reporters that Zimmerman—who is half-Hispanic—isn’t racist.  Zimmerman comes from a multiracial family and, during the period when the shooting took place, was tutoring a black neighbor’s two young children and helping raise money for her all-black church.

Maybe Zimmerman wasn’t racist, but he racially profiled Martin and told a 911 dispatcher Martin looked suspicious because he was black.  Zimmerman also uttered a racial slur.  read more »

Flushed with victory from my latest convert to conservatism (another citizen saved from the perdition of liberalism), my thoughts turn to the task at hand. That task is the complete and utter destruction of the Marxist/Leninist plague that is the regime of Barack Hussein Obama.

We as patriots know well, maybe better than anyone else, how fragile our freedoms are. We also know that this country cannot survive another four years of the filth and corruption that is the Obama government. The Secret Service paid Vice President Joe Biden over $20,000 in rent last year for the privilege of residing on his property while protecting him.  Apparently one of its agents couldn’t cough up $50 to pay a Cartagenero hooker last week.  Coincidence?

Eleven Secret Service staff members were sent home from tony beach resort city Cartagena and put on administrative leave, ahead of President Obama’s arrival Saturday for the 6^th Summit of the Americas, for the indiscretion of having invited a squadron of prostitutes to their hotel rooms.  One of the hookers brought to the posh Hotel Caribe was upset over a lousy $47 an agent had failed to pay her.  She went to complain to the police, who forwarded her case to the State Department.

Several hotel waiters reported that the week before the scandal, agents had been drinking heavily and carousing at the Caribe.  The prostitution scandal broke the day before Obama was scheduled to arrive in South America, and took place just a few blocks from his hotel.  read more »

It’s ironic how quickly events can turn. MaoBama and the DNC goon squad were preparing what they thought to be a devastating attack against our presumptive presidential candidate, Mitt Romney, by attacking his wife and attempting to discredit and marginalize her. In order to accomplish this end, they trotted out the usual assortment of worn-out hacks to demean a lady who has more class in her little fingernail than the entire DeMarxist establishment combined.

The assault was headed by a long-term DeMarxist lesbian activist, whose own ‘marriage’ and subsequent divorce left their adopted twins with a broken home. This ‘expert’ on domesticity and the lives and perils of the American working mother is just another in a long line of DeMarxist over-reach, which has blown up in Obama’s lying face.

Nothing happens in the Obama circus by accident, and this latest most vicious scheme is no exception. Both MaoBama and his co-president Mooch-elle have their fingers very tightly around the strings that control the party apparatchiks.
