Libya Not The Democracy We Were Promised, But Thanks To Who?

After months of hearing commentators say how good it was to see “Democracy” finally coming to Libya, we now know for a fact that was a dream if there ever was one. I was one of many who had their doubts about war in Libya, not because Col. Gaddafi was a good man but because what could have come and taken over could have been far worse and much more difficult to control from our end as a world power.

Our worries were justified, and no matter what the President says about “Democracy” in that part of the world, we the people know better. There is no democracy coming to Libya or any other of these nations, but what we will see is much worse than what we have seen in Northern Africa and the Middle East in our life times. You want to know who to blame for this, you do not not have to look too far!

It is very simple to blame the President of the United States for this when it was European powers who pushed this attack and pushed for help for the rebels, but the United States did not have to come on board with anything. We could have stayed out of the conflict and allowed Europe to deal with the trouble that came after. Instead, we have heard less and less about European involvement and much, much more about the United States involvement in Libya. This is because if it was not for the United States there would have been no NATO bombings which led to the demise of the Gaddafi regime. The end of the regime that we could control, for the most part, came about because the “Anti-War” President, the man given the Nobel Peace Prize, decided to back rebels that he KNEW would institute anything but Democracy inside Libya. We the people saw this coming, so it is tough to say the President and those ion our government did not see it coming. While we may not see a threat from Libya in the near future, we just may have created the next Iran without even thinking about the consequences of our actions.

All of those people in America that stand up and say we should stay out of all world conflicts look more and more smart by the day after seeing what has happened in Iraq and Libya. We have set up a dream situation for the Iranian regime to make sure they have a foothold in nations we have been fighting in so that Iran did not have the opportunity to have a foothold in. Our fights in Iraq and Libya could be all for not because we are leaving one nation to run themselves, being a neighbor of Iran and having close ties to them, and leaving another nation to be run by the same kind of extremism that we are supposedly fighting against. How does this make sense? How could our President have done such a thing to America, its security, and the future of this nation?

The argument in Iraq is that we cannot stay there because our soldiers do not have the immunity to stay there. This is the case, but why is that the case? Is this Bush’s fault as well, or is it because of the insane inter working of the Obama Administration doing whatever they have to do to make sure they look politically good rather than leaving a stable nation that cannot be influenced by Iran once we leave? If you believe that the United States could not deal with the Iraqi’s to leave our troops there, you are some kind of nuts! We are the United States of America, we do not allow people to tell us what to do we do what we WANT to do and others learn to like it. This is America, love it or hate it, and this is the way it has been for quite a long time now. That is not to say we should stay in Iraq forever, but if you believe our job is done then you must not understand the threat that their neighbor posses for the people of not only America but for our allies in the region as well. Iran is a threat, and with allies like China and Russia, they are a very strong threat to the security of not only Eastern European nations but possibly the American mainland and without a doubt American service people in the region. The President wants us all to believe that we are not going to stay because the State Department and himself are worthless at making deals? I do not buy it for a minute, and none of you should as well.

What we see taking shape under the Obama Administration is not Democracy in the Middle East and other areas of oppression, we are seeing more states turn to radical Islamic law that otherwise we may have been able to deal with in the past. Nations like the before mentioned Iran love this kind of thing, because they know they now have more nations they can align themselves with. We are seeing that part of the world change dramatically, and look who’s watch it is happening on. If the Bush Administration did anything wrong is what not standing up to the threat that Iran posed in the first place. They have been running a proxy war against America ever since we started the war in Iraq, and our government has been too thick headed to do anything about it. If this was any other time in history, the Iranian government would have had to pay for the mistakes they have made, but today we help them by giving them more nations to influence in that part of the world to make the United States job even more difficult to win at the end of the day.

It would not have been politically expedient to push a war on Iran after what happened in Iraq under the Bush Administration and I understand the politics of it, but the threat of Iran was downplayed by not only the media but the Administration themselves. They made no push at all to let the American people know that Iranian weapons and maybe even men were killing U.S. troops, and because of that the people today look at Iran as if they are no threat to anyone. The reason the media can get away with this lie is because the Bush Administration took politics before security, in this ONE instance, and now Barack Obama is allowed to play a shell game with nations who he wants the American people to perceive as Democratic. I am not buying it, and I have a feeling you are not buying it either!

No matter how you feel about the wars in Libya and also Iraq, one thing is for certain: The American people are NOT safer today because we are leaving Iraq or because Gaddafi was taken from power. He was an evil man who did many evil things in the past, but we also know that he was able to be manipulated to keep the peace. The last thing he wanted was an American or NATO force coming into his nation to take him out, because he knew he could never stand up to that firepower. The United States was clear in many past Administrations: Follow what we tell you to do and you can stay, if not, we will come and take you out of power. What the Obama Administration did, rightly or wrongly depending on your view, took the American people’s hatred for the man overall and used it to make sure he was taken from power using a International force to make it seem like the United States was not the top dog in this game. What the American people know now is that what the President authorized had nothing to do with the security of the United States of America or its allies as a whole, but a move to supposedly bring Democracy to a nation when we knew it was not at all possible to do so with the rebels that were in place on the ground.

We are the United States of America! We have the power, if we choose, to set up governments around the world to meet the needs of the greater good. That does not mean we SHOULD do it, so do not get me wrong, but we DO have the power to do it because we DO it all the time. This time, however, will end like many of those other times. Only this time we have not dealt with the head of the snake, which means the problems with radical Islam in the Middle East and elsewhere continue as we listen to our President tell us those in Libya are fighting for Democracy. I am not buying it, Mr. President, I am NOT buying it for one minute!
