N.C. Governor Suggests Suspending Elections For Two Years, Press Team Says She Was Joking
The suggestion by North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue that we should suspend election for two years while we work to fix the economy is something I thought I would have heard from the White House before the Governor of a state, but no matter who is actually putting the idea out there is not the real issue. The issue here is that someone in a position of power would work it into the conversation to see how people would respond to it. Once the Governor and her team saw the people were not behind her idea, they backtracked and told the media that she was just joking. I am not sure what is so funny about this, but suspending elections for no other reason that to try and fix an economy when many Americans are looking forward to voting their leadership out is one of the most despicable ideas ever presented by someone in power in this nation.
As you can tell if you take a look at the video at the link above, which includes the audio of the address by the N.C. Governor, it does not sound like she is kidding. Her press team may believe they can pull a fast one on the American people and the people of her state, but the people are not buying it for a minute. We the people believe that those in Washington need to be held accountable, and if they lose their elections then they lose their jobs. To allow people who would otherwise have lost their jobs to stay in office just because the job market is not where it should be is to say that just because I might be overweight means I should not eat for the next six months. Both ideas make no sense and have absolutely no logic or reason to back them up.
If the Governor did anything, she awakened some people who may not be listening to what is going on in this country, and now some of those people are asking why a Governor would support such an idea? Why would someone who has sworn an oath to uphold the Constitution of her state and of the United States as a whole suggest that the people be blocked from doing their duty of keeping those in power accountable? I believe I know the answer, but it may not be one many people like.
I believe she suggested this because this is what many people in her party are thinking, not only on the Congressional level but across the board. If the White House could come up with a good reason to suspend all election, I believe they would do everything in their power to do so, no matter what that meant for the American people. This is just one of the many Democrats in this nation that believe we have too many freedoms and some of those freedoms should to trampled on because of their small world view of how a nation should operate. The people of North Carolina and of this nation do not stand behind a suggestion like that, and neither should those in public office who’s job it is to do the work of the people, and then when their time is up they go home to do whatever they wish to do with their time. Just because one person and only one person has brought this up to the American people does not mean the majority of the far left does not agree with it, because they do agree that we the people have been given to many freedoms. Unfortunately for them, once a person has them it is tough to take them away so easily. Yes, our government may be trampling on our rights in other areas, but not nearly to the extent that we see in this suggestion. This would be the most preposterous move our government has ever taken, and the people are taking notice.
If the people were not taking notice, the press team of the Governor could have just swept any questions that have been asked under the rug and forgot she even said it. But because the people are now asking why someone would suggest such a thing, her team needs to scramble to make up an excuse. No one believes this excuse, especially if you listen to the audio. She is not joking. When a person jokes, you can at least here a little chuckle or the person will throw in a “I’m kidding” into the speech just to let people know that it was being used for effect, not to be serious. But she continued on and said that she believes others would stand by her suggestion, which only proves my point from earlier that she is not the only one in government that would like to do something such as this.
Last night on the podcast I talked about the poll that I wrote about a couple days ago that said the American people, by a margin of 49%, say they believe their government is an imminent threat to their rights and freedoms. Just a few days later, Gov. Perdue says this and we are left to ask ourselves if now MORE people feel the way that 49% feel about the government and what they are trying to do with our freedoms and our rights. Is the government that must of a threat it would be imminent, and are those 49% of the population not the crazies that many make them out to be but those who truly understand what the government is trying to do to the people of this nation?
What I do know is that while Gov. Perdue may have been the only one to suggest something like this from her position of power, she is not the only one who believes that it is an option that should be left on the table. Elections are troublesome to those in power and without them they would be able to do whatever it is they wanted to do. Take away election and the good money says we would never get them back. While we work to help other nations set up a free society (or at least as free as they want it to be) we at home are working to bring down the free society and look more like the nations we are trying to rebuild. The American people see the irony and the disgust in those actions, and this is one of the reasons why many people now believe the wars were not as accomplishing as some may have you believe they were. While I do believe we did need to root out those who attacked us and sponsored the attacks, to say these nations need to be more free while we have politicians at home saying we need to be LESS free only goes to show that we need to get our own house in order before we tell others how to decorate theirs!
