Poverty Soars to Nearly 1 in 6, No End in Sight
Poverty Soars to Nearly 1in 6, No End in Sight
While many of you that will read this understand that there is not much the government can do, other than step aside, to make this economy better, we must also realize that the fact that the government will not step aside is the reason why we are seeing numbers like this. When in recorded history has our government done anything right when it came to the American people’s money? Everything is over budget or is cluttered with waste, and the people are now suffering because those on the Left in Washington do not want to do the right thing. That is not to say the Republicans are not to blame for some of this, because they have had their days of spending too much as well, but the day has come to stop spending and try to figure out a way we can get America back on track. The President’s recent plan does not do that, and the people will be left to suffer even more than we are today if something is not done soon.
When we see numbers like 1 in 6 people in America are living in poverty, that should make everyone in this nation sick to their stomach. This was and is the nation of opportunity, but in the past few decades we have given up the opportunity for a quick buck on the back of other Americans. How can we sit here and say that this is the greatest nation on the Earth, the most ethical nation on the Earth, and we refuse to pay our bills and refuse to tell people to pick themselves up out of the dirt and make something of themselves? It is impossible to believe that this nation can sustain much more of this when we see numbers like this. The problem is the people who still have jobs will not pay any attention to these numbers until it is too late, and then they will get involved. It is up to those Americans who care about the future of this great land to get up, scream, and tell their representatives that we will not stand for the out of control spending any longer. The Obama plan for jobs is not what we need to fix the problem that we are talking about in this blog today, what we need is for the Obama Administration and the Congress to step back and allow businesses to do what they need to do to get this economy back. The only thing Washington can do is lower taxes and regulation, but in no way can Washington create jobs just because they say they will. It is a lie we have been told for far too long.
With the news that unemployment will probably not get any better before the end of 2012, most of us realize that the 1 in 6 that we are talking about right now will get even larger over the next year. These problems do not correct themselves overnight and I do not believe anyone thinks they can be corrected that fast. The problem is Washington is doing the opposite of what should be done, and the Republicans need to stand their ground if they choose to keep the base behind them going into 2012.
(I should mention that political strategy is what I love to talk and write about, and that is what you will be reading a lot when you see my blogs. Some take it as I am leaning to one side or the other depending on the day, but have no fear, what I say is what the Republicans need to do to win. If they do, they will wipe the floor with any Democratic opponent they come into a race with)
If the Republicans stand tall (as they should have done with the debt limit) and they are able to explain to Americans what the right thing to do is, then the American people will be willing to deal with some growing pains to make sure their kids are not left with debt that was piled up by them. In this nation, we always want better for our children and our children’s children, and that has not changed. We want our kids to be better of than us and for them to make the right choices for the country as a whole and also as individuals in a family. What many Americans do not realize about the changes that have to be made is that if they are not made, their children’s children will be worse off then they are right now. I know my grandparents sacrificed when I was a child and they were the best grandparents a person could have. They took me out and bought me lunch and toys, and my grandparents were not rich but they wanted their grandchildren to have nice things. Many other grandparents are the same way, and with that mentality we can change the way not only Washington operates but the outlook for generations to come.
Do not allow the Left to scare you into believing that changes to medicare and Social Security will hurt this nation. If you are my age or even a little older and you want to keep some of your own money to save for yourself, then there is nothing wrong with that. There is nothing wrong with being the master of your own future, and not depending on the government to do everything for you. It is not their money, you earned it and it should be yours to spend. Look around the nation at places that have tried different changes to retirement funds and you will see individuals that have much more money than they ever would have under the Social Security system. Why is that? It is because the people were given a choice, and I would trust my own mind and my own investment against the government’s investments any day of the week. We did not give them that money to buy a car company, we gave them that money to save and they broke their agreement. The least they can do is acknowledge the mistake and allow we the people to move forward with our own money and our own plan of action.
No matter what political persuasion you may be, you have to admit that 1 in 6 in poverty is disgusting and things need to change. We may disagree on how to change the future of this nation so it looks brighter for the future generations, but one thing will never change: The fact that the people know better than the government, and we the people are fed up to our noses with the fact that the government does not trust their own people.
