Illegal Immigration - Get it right It's 'Illegal Aliens'
First and foremost I want to say, there is no such thing as an illegal immigrant. The only way to become an immigrant is to do so legally.
I suppose that if I were "politically correct" I could call the estimated 11.2 million illegal aliens - illegal immigrants. The problem I see with calling them illegal immigrants is that an immigrant tries at least to get here legally - illegal aliens move in and never gain citizenship - and live sometimes better than Americans. We here is the US give illegal aliens everything they need to survive - why would they want to leave or gain citizenship and lose all the freebies?
Amendment 14 - Citizenship Rights - was written to guarantee citizenship for freed slaves. It's been misinterpreted to give citizenship to children of illegal aliens. "Anchor babies" as they are called do not fit within the 14th amendment. The last time the 14th amendment was ratified was in 07/09/1868, I'd be guessing here but I bet that the US didn't have a problem with illegal aliens back then as we do now.
This is a severe problem here in the US and with Barack Hussein Obama aka Barry Soetoro in leadership, it will only continue to get worse. It is evident that he has no plan to stop the estimated 2 million illegal aliens that enter the US every year. Signs were put up by Obama's administration warning US citizens of drug and alien smugglers, and Mexican drug cartels now control some parts of the state in Arizona. One would have thought this was down on the border, but it was more than 100 miles north of the border.
Progressives like BHO want to keep giving to illegal aliens, but the smartest thing to do would be to secure the borders and do another "Operation Wetback." In 1949 the Border Patrol seized nearly 280,000 illegal immigrants. By 1953, the numbers had grown to more than 865,000, and the U.S. government felt pressured to do something about the onslaught of illegals aliens. What resulted was Operation Wetback, devised in 1954 under the supervision of new commissioner of the Immigration and Nationalization Service, Gen. Joseph Swing.
Swing oversaw the Border patrol, and organized state and local officials along with the police. The object of his intense border enforcement were "illegal aliens," but common practice of Operation Wetback focused on Mexicans in general. The police swarmed through Mexican American barrios throughout the southeastern states. Some Mexicans, fearful of the potential violence of this militarization, fled back south across the border. In 1954, the agents discovered over 1 million illegal immigrants.
Whether or not it was 13 million or 1.3 million doesn't matter. What does matter is that 'Operation Wetback' was real and that it worked. Proponents of greater immigration enforcement argue that illegal aliens cost taxpayers an estimated $338.3 billion dollars and jeopardize the safety of our law enforcement officials and citizens, especially along the Mexican border.
Or we could just stop the free give-a-ways, this in my opinion would remove in itself millions of these illegal aliens and save us billions of dollars. Why do you suppose BHO doesn't want to secure the borders? Is it his liberal demeanor, or is he trying to keep something hidden?
As hard as it would be to believe, I am not against legal immigration, and I am not racist. I am however tired of the US taking care of the rest of the world - when our own are suffering.
