Harry Reid No Entiende

For those of you who do not know Spanish, I just said Harry Reid Doesn’t Understand. This is in response to his insensitive and downright ignorant comments on August 10, 2010 at an even promoting English language education. Let’s focus on his statement “I don't know how anyone of Hispanic heritage could be a Republican”
It’s pretty simple really, many Hispanics, immigrants and non-immigrants (and not all Hispanics are immigrants mind you) legal or illegal have one common purpose. That purpose is for them to compete in the marketplace, to be able to make something of themselves. The spirit of free enterprise, to work and to ensure higher education for their children and grandchildren by sacrificing their own luxuries so that they may go to the grave with a sense of achievement. A way of life that can only be found in America thanks to conservative principles. These are things that the core principles of the Republican party, to allow for self sustainability.
Hispanics from Latin American nations know the consequences of a big and corrupt government. Look at countries like Venezuela, Nicaragua, Cuba and Bolivia. Nations that have a large central government that tries to dominate over their people, and look at Mexico a nation so corrupt and influenced by money and ego that their citizens prefer to live a life of poverty in the United States rather than to live in their own nation.
Harry Reid could never understand what it is like to be Hispanic, just like I could not understand why he would be in politics for over thirty years. He has been in government positions most of his life, he’s never owned a business or worked in the private sector. Sure, he comes from a blue collar background but that alone does not make you a part of “El Pueblo”.
Mr. Reid, your comments are hurtful to Hispanic Republicans. But hey, we can take it because we have been through worse. Far worse, we lived in nations where we have seen children go to bed without anything to eat. Nations where racism is far worse than in America, where if you were born poor you stayed poor because that was your ill fate. And that’s why Mr. Reid, Hispanics who have experienced that first hand vote Republican.
