I heard The Republican Party Was Near Exticntion
We Have Been Here Before, Only Dems Were On The Ropes
Yes Republicans were gut punched this last election. The re-election of a failed president, being rejected by half of the electorate can be a bit disheartening. Well I may be able to offer a bit of chin lifting inspiration to conservatives, Republicans or just people that think we are in a permanent downward spiral. With the prospect of another four years of out of control spending and little hope of Obama Care being repealed things look bleak especially when you you hear media oulets trumpet polls telling us Hillary Clinton is a shoe in for POTUS in 2016.
Well if you are old, you may remember 1972. In 1972, President Nixon won a second term against a (more Liberal) George McGovern. Nixon was presiding over a sluggish economy, and fighting a nasty bit of inflation. Oh yeah they introduced price freezing by the way. The united states was also involved in an increasingly unpopular war in Vietnam. The conflicts approval rating was hovering around fifty percent. Now with all that, you would think Democrats had a reasonable shot at taking the white house. Well after a disastrous convention, and a horribly run campaign, Senator McGovern carried only one state. It was looking for all the world that we would never see another Democrat in the white house. The Democrats even had to hold a telethon to keep the party doors open. And then what happened? Can you say Watergate?
I,m not saying this bunch of so called journalists will ever uncover,( Benghazi, Fast and Furious) or report on a scandal that includes this president, no, just one thing to remember, no government lasts forever.
