With the April 15th Taxday "Tea Parties" approaching in cities all across America, and the fact that conservative participation looks to be tremendous, our good "friends" on the left are looking to do what good lefties do - infiltrate the rallies and generate some sort of controversy at each of them that will (they hope) overshadow the conservative message of the events. Meaning they'll even pretend to be "racists conservatives" if necessary, to draw negative attention to the events...so their fellow travelers in the media can report it, and spend less time talking about how tens of thousands of angry taxpayers are rallying against government spending. Liberals. Gotta' love 'em.
Karl Rove called our eloquent Vice President Joe Biden a "blowhard" and a "liar" yesterday...in the process of refuting a story by the garrulous Veep that he had had a private meeting with GW Bush years ago, at which he told the former President the "no one is following" his leadership. But we all know Joe lives in his own little world. It's just nice to see someone on our side call the bozo out in a high profile way.
The Heritage Foundation has a nice write-up of all the new government controls over your life and your business coming your way courtesy of Barack Obama. On the list: more government control and/or expansion of: healthcare, housing, welfare, more bailouts (along w/more controls of business), taxes - even federal regulations controlling local zoning. (Barack for city planner!)
A new Rasmussen poll says that 55% of Americans wouldn't trade their deductions for lower tax rates, (which just confirms to me that our overcomplicated tax code has too many deductions...to the point where most people really don't know what rate they pay...or how much better off they would really be with a simple, lower rate). Not to mention how simpler it would be...and how much time it would save. The same poll shows that 44% of Americans get it, and support simplifying the tax system so that everyone pays the same percentage of tax on their income, (as opposed to our current "progressive" tax system).
Despite the overwhelming opinion of the American people...and healthcare providers...Obama is pushing ahead with regulations that would remove conscience protections for healthcare workers that allow them to opt out of providing "services" (read: abortion) that either their conscience or religious views would prohibit. Over thirty groups came together to send the Bamster a letter protesting the move.
