An electronic on-board recorder (EOBR) is an electronic device attached to a commercial motor vehicle, which is used to record the amount of time a vehicle is being driven.
The driving hours of commercial drivers - truck and bus drivers - are regulated by a set of rules known as the hours-of-service (HOS). The HOS are rules intended to prevent driver fatigue, by limiting the amount of time drivers spend operating commercial vehicles.
Obama has agreed to opening the southern border to Mexican trucks, by doing so he has defied the unions and American truckers, and has passed over Congress on the ever-so controversial cross-border issue with Mexico. Obama also, screws the American tax payers too, as in the deal with Mexico - that he agreed too - has Americans paying for the EOBRs for the Mexican trucks.
This is outrageous to say the least - that American truck drivers, and American taxpayers have to "pay" for equipment for another countries trucks - so they can be in compliance with American safety standards and regulations.
In 1995 the US and Mexico started a pilot program to allow Mexican trucks to travel throughout the US delivering loads brought in from Mexico. The US trucks were allowed to do the same in Mexico, but safety and security concerns spurred the United States to bar Mexican trucks on U.S. roadways. read more »
Why in the world would any state allow an illegal alien have a drivers license?
Well, I guess I really should not be that surprised that this is happening given the state that the immigration process in the United States is in.
The US needs to reform how it acts towards all illegal aliens.
If they are called “illegals” then that must be against a law.
Why are we giving an “illegal” anything?
That is why we have such a huge problem with illegal aliens in the US.
Ira Mehlman, a spokesman for the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) said, “One reason why we have such large scale of illegal aliens is because we’ve made it so easy.
We say, ‘Don’t come to the U.S. but as long as you’re here, we’ll give you what everybody else has.”
Melissa Savage of the National Conference of State Legislatures, said, “it’s possible that some states could begin offering a two-tiered licensing system so illegal immigrants can still have driving privileges.”
What? No, that is not fixing the problem of the illegal aliens being here.
It is however giving an incentive for them to come here illegally – if they know they can come into the US illegally and still go and get a drivers license – without the worry of being arrested and deported. This is a privilege given to Americans, it is NOT something that is needed for survival. read more »
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reports that the nearly 2,000-mile U.S. border with Mexico is vulnerable to cross-border illegal activity.
Office of Border Patrol (Border Patrol), within DHS's U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), is responsible for securing the border between U.S. ports of entry and has divided responsibility for southwest border miles among nine Border Patrol sectors.
CBP reported spending about $3 billion on Border Patrol's southwest border efforts in fiscal year 2010, apprehending over 445,000 illegal entries.
This testimony provides preliminary observations on (1) the extent to which DHS reported progress in achieving operational control--Border Patrol was able to detect, respond, and interdict cross-border illegal activity--of the southwest border; (2) the extent to which operational control reflects Border Patrol's ability to respond to illegal activity at the border or after entry into the United States; and (3) how DHS reports the transition to new border security measures will change oversight and resource requirements for securing the southwest border.
"We have devoted unprecedented amounts of manpower, infrastructure and technology to the Southwest border under this administration," DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano said. "Over the past two years, our seizures of illegal drugs, currency and weapons have increased significantly -- helping to make the Southwest border more secure than ever before."
So, which is it? The border is secured or the border is not secured as it ever was, Napolitano? GAO's preliminary analysis of the 873 border miles under operational control in 2010 showed that about 129 miles (15 percent) were classified as "controlled" and the remaining 85 percent were classified as "managed." Border Patrol stated that operational control does not require its agents to be able to detect and apprehend all illegal entries. read more »
Felipe Calderon, Mexico's president is scheduled to visit the US tomorrow, it is an official visit to Obama. So, I wonder what Felipe will demand the US to do this time around? If you remember on his last visit, Calderon seized the opportunity to blast Arizona’s controversial immigration law.
I for one am not surprised that Obama is allowing him back at the White House - Felipe should have had to apologize for his comments before he was allowed back. It's not right for anyone especially a president of another country to come to the US and severely criticize a state for a law it wants.
Calderon said, "It is a law that not only ignores a reality that cannot be erased by decree but also introduces a terrible idea using racial profiling as the basis for law enforcement." To which he received several standing ovations from congressional democrats. He also blamed violence in Mexico on the US (see George W Bush) because we allowed the assault weapons ban to expire.
Calderon's visit comes a little more than two weeks after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent Jaime Zapata was killed. The AP reports the agent was killed on a highway in northern Mexico on Feb. 15 - with a gun that was smuggled in from the United States. If this is the case and Calderon wants to say that a ban on weapons should be enacted to stop all these killings - I would have to say secure the borders and a lot of all the trouble would cease. read more »
First and foremost I want to say, there is no such thing as an illegal immigrant. The only way to become an immigrant is to do so legally.
I suppose that if I were "politically correct" I could call the estimated 11.2 million illegal aliens - illegal immigrants. The problem I see with calling them illegal immigrants is that an immigrant tries at least to get here legally - illegal aliens move in and never gain citizenship - and live sometimes better than Americans. We here is the US give illegal aliens everything they need to survive - why would they want to leave or gain citizenship and lose all the freebies?
Amendment 14 - Citizenship Rights - was written to guarantee citizenship for freed slaves. It's been misinterpreted to give citizenship to children of illegal aliens. "Anchor babies" as they are called do not fit within the 14th amendment. The last time the 14th amendment was ratified was in 07/09/1868, I'd be guessing here but I bet that the US didn't have a problem with illegal aliens back then as we do now.
This is a severe problem here in the US and with Barack Hussein Obama aka Barry Soetoro in leadership, it will only continue to get worse. It is evident that he has no plan to stop the estimated 2 million illegal aliens that enter the US every year. Signs were put up by Obama's administration warning US citizens of drug and alien smugglers, and Mexican drug cartels now control some parts of the state in Arizona. One would have thought this was down on the border, but it was more than 100 miles north of the border. read more »
Since recently the repeal of "Don't Ask Don't Tell" and now Obama's decision to direct the Justice Department to stop defending the Defense of Marriage Act. The law that allows individual states the right to decide whether or not to accept gay marriages performed in other states. This is yet another nail that Obama has yanked out in the wall that separates Gays from equal rights.
I said it in my last post "I will never be PC towards Gays" because the Bible says it is an abomination Leviticus 18:22. This is the reason that God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. The people whom lived there were engaged in consensual homosexual acts, also they wanted to engage in bestiality - having sex with members of another species - also known as zoosexuality, and is the practice of sex between humans and non-human animals.
Many believe that the story of Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis 19, like passages elsewhere in the Bible, refer to homosexuality as a forbidden, detestable practice deserving of the most serious punishment - not only death to those attempting the homosexual act - but also a mini-genocide of the entire cities of Sodom and Gomorrah including adults, youths, children, and infants.
God created the institution of heterosexual (Traditional marriage) marriage as the only valid relationship for humans within which sexual activity can be performed without sin. Heterosexuality consists of sexual behavior, practices, and identity predicated on exclusive preference or desire for the opposite sex. read more »
You have been warned, I am not Politically Correct - and never will be. I don't care if it upsets you or not. I am a Politically Incorrect, Anti-government, Gunslinging, Rebel, GOD Loving, Bible Toting, Conservative, Christian, my bible does not say anything about political correctness - I live by my bible.
I will never be politically correct towards other religions – I am a Christian and I believe Jesus Christ is the only way to be reconciled to God I will not be PC towards Illegal Aliens – there is no such thing as an illegal immigrant. I will never be PC towards criminals – you broke the law you deserve to have your rights taken away from you. I will never be PC towards Gays – because the Bible says it is an abomination Leviticus 18:22.
Politically Correct claims to be non-offensive speech for all people. All it is made up of is lies, deceptions, or slanted opinion designed to hide the truth and morality. A better name would be Truthfully Deceptive. The United States used to be known as the melting pot of the world, but that has since gone away. To be considered a melting pot – then the immigrants would have to stop coming into the US illegally, and forcing their ways upon us.
But the problem is that this country has fallen into a rut that we are almost forced to be PC towards all people – in other words we must lie to them.
This is America and we do speak English – why should I have to press #1 for English? If you are here illegally then you are a criminal and you should be sent back to your originating country – I should not have to give you food or cloths or medical coverage. You are in this country illegally you have no rights – period. If this hurts your feelings then so-be-it, I don’t need you in or around my life. The United States needs to work on this problem – that would save billions of dollars per year. read more »
