USA's new NHS
Thanks to Socialism
Hi folks,
for all you well meaning people who want everyone to get "free" healthcare and are thrilled about Obamacare, you need to only look at UK & Canada. Now I'm sure you've all seen Steven Crowder's well made video on youtube about Canada's health system, but perhaps you are still hopeful that the system Obama wants here will work.
I'm originally from the UK and have lived in the USA since 1994. I have experienced both systems and can assure you that the difference between them is like night and day. Just a couple of trips down memory lane for you; At the tender age of 14 (on a Saturday) I started having terrible pains in my stomach. Doctor was called, and he asked me if I was pregnant. Sunday went past, no better. Pain pills not working, no sleep.
Monday I did my morning paper round and threw up. Doctor was called again (this time I could barely move). He just prescribed more pain meds and left. Tuesday was a nightmare. Still at home and white as a sheet. Eventually my parents called the doctor again and he suggested we go to the hospital. In hospital now, in the isolation unit, as they weren't sure if I was contagious. The doctors decided not to give me pain meds because they werent sure what was wrong with me and needed to know more about my condition. (NO PAIN MEDS!) Now we move to Thursday and by now I am begging to die. Doctors decide to operate! Find out that I had appendicitis. (Wow who would have guessed!)
A week or so later I'm still in pain and my stomach has bloated so much that it looked like I was 9 months pregnant. High fever, so they had a fan blowing cooler air on me 24/7, so yes I had an infection! Second operation was needed to fix that. My body shut down, kidneys etc stopped working, nearly died. I was in hospital for 3 weeks.
All that to say that yes, I am still alive. I suppose it could have been worse!! I could tell you about my botched epidural while having my first child & emergency c-section. Had second baby in US (phew!) I could tell you more about NHS giving my mother-in-law physio-therapy for her shoulder while being treated for liver cancer. She had physio 3 times a week for months before they told her that she had cancer in her shoulder also.
But I suppose you will all have to stand in line and wait your turn. Because when Obamacare arrives, this is exactly what you will have to do, because there will be fewer doctors, more patients and limited resources, just like the UK and Canada! Thank you socialism! read more »
