Obama's Media-Forgiven 'Quayle Factor'
Submitted by Gary Gore on Thu, 05/15/2008 - 2:40pm.
Over the course of the last few days, Democratic front-runner Barack Obama has made several verbal missteps. But, I've seen little-to-no mention of these things in the liberal mainstream media.
First, there was the issue last Friday where Obama mistakenly stated there were 57 states, saying:
"It is just wonderful to be back in Oregon. Over the last 15 months we've traveled to every corner of the United States. I've now been to fifty-seven states? I think one left to go. One left to go. Alaska and Hawaii, I was not allowed to go to, even though I really wanted to, but my staff would not justify it." Watch the video
Then on Tuesday, while in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Obama made the mistake of claiming we need to deploy more Arabic-speaking translators in Afghanistan... where they DO NOT SPEAK ARABIC.
"Right now, we don't have enough troops, and NATO hasn't provided enough troops because they are still angry about us going into Iraq. So we just don't have enough capacity right now to deal with... and it's not just troops, by the way! It's like Arab... Arabic interpreters, Arab language speakers, we only have a certain number of them, and if they're all in Iraq, then it's harder for us to use them, and... obviously they may not speak Arabic, but the various dialects that they speak in Afghanistan, oftentimes people who speak Urdu or Pashtu or whatever the languages are, they're going to be needed in those areas, and a lot of them have ended up being placed elsewhere."
It's Dari and Pashtu, which are the predominantly spoken languages of Afghanistan.
Now, we have the latest bone-headed blunder that has come about. Senator Obama, while making a stop at a Detroit auto plant, blew off female news reporter, Peggy Agar, of WXYZ saying, "Hold on one second, sweetie! We're going to do a press avail." Watch the video
There's no question that the press, time and again, goes easier on the members of the political left. But, this jaw-dropping comedy of errors, all which have transpired just over the course of mere days, has gone almost totally unmentioned by the MSM. If you're not privy to the ways of YouTube or regularly checking the latest from the political blogs, you're likely unaware of these things as a potential voter.
Things come into perspective pretty dramatically when you consider that we're almost 16 years removed from a former vice-president putting an 'e' at the end of 'potato'. Pretty unfair, seeing how Quayle didn't have his teleprompter either, while visiting that classroom.

Politics and Race
Submitted by Vilani on Thu, 05/15/2008 - 8:13am.As President Lincoln once said, 'You can fool all of the people some of the time, some of the people all the time but you can never fool all of the people all of the time'.
The art of politics is the ability to say one thing and mean another. There has never been an honest politician. If anyone ever needs proof of this, just take Lincoln for example. When Lincoln was elected, nothing in his rhetoric said anything about emancipation yet this has been taught in schools that he was the Great Emancipator.
I believe that the emancipation was one of the worst things that could ever have happened to black people in the United States. Imagine being freed from the chains of bondage, only to have to wait another 100 years to have the US Congress have to pass something like the Civil Rights Act of 1968.
Lincoln forcing the southern states to end slavery is akin to what our government is doing today, usurping the rights and powers of the states to make decisions on what is best for their own people.
Don't take these words to mean that I support slavery, but slavery, like communism has its shelf life of working. Communism in Russia only lasted 80 years and it collapsed. What has grown in its place is a hybrid of socialism and capitalism, much like the direction our own country is making these days.
Race is a very sensitive subject, speak on it one way or the other and you will immediately be branded a racist by one race or the other.
You've got the entire drama of Obama/Wright and Clinton and her "First Black President" husband, Bill. Neither one of these duos have their act together. Wright wants to make it about race and Obama wants to turn our country into a socialist wasteland that is subjugated to the whims of creatures like Ahmedinijad (sp?) and Chavez. Clinton would love to take profits of companies and put them into a fund to research alternative forms of energy.
If Clinton wins the primaries by a slim lead, Obama and the blacks will believe that the nomination was stolen, If Obama wins the nomination, Clinton will do everything in her power to wrest the nomination away from him, either way, this will be a most interesting thing to watch on TV.
There is actually a group called "Recreate '68", which will probably turn Denver into a wasteland through riots and what-not.
Anyone who says this election isn't about race has their head screwed firmly up "where the sun doesn't shine". The first viable white woman and the first viable black man, both with an equal chance at taking the nomination. If you look closely at the numbers, there isn't a clear choice. In the Democrat party, (even without OpChaos in action) there isn't a clear choice. People are either voting against one or for the other. Women voting for Clinton and blacks and impressionable young people voting for Obama.
Obama talks and talks about Hope and Change, it's nice to hope but what exactly is he hoping to change? The President of the United States is largely a figurehead, without the power of the Congress behind him or her, the President can't and won't be able to do a damned thing, sad but true.
I think Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II has more power than the President does, people actually respect her. If the President does not have the respect of the people or the Congress, he won't have the power to get anything accomplished.
It's fine if you get elected through race relations or treachery but if your party doesn't control Congress, you're what they call a "lame duck", certainly an apropos name for either of our Democrat candidates, don't you think?

Obama plays the "age" card
Submitted by Drew McKissick on Fri, 05/09/2008 - 9:03am.
Suddenly the guy who wants the "new" kind of politics...they guy who the mainstream media tells us is "post partisan"...has decided to play, well, politics. In this case, it's his subtle attempt to play the "age card" in his soon-to-be campaign against John McCain.
Sen. Barack Obama yesterday accused presumptive Republican nominee Sen. John McCain of "losing his bearings," prompting the Arizona senator's campaign to say the younger man was attacking Mr. McCain's age.
Mr. Obama was asked in an appearance on CNN to respond to Mr. McCain's saying on the campaign trail that Hamas favors the Democrat for president.
"This is offensive and I think it's disappointing, because John McCain always says, well, I'm not going to run that kind of politics," Mr. Obama said yesterday, adding that "that kind of smear I think is unfortunate, particularly since my policy toward Hamas has been no different than his.
"For him to toss out comments like that I think is an example of him losing his bearings as he pursues this nomination. We don't need name-calling in this debate."
Pay no mind to the fact that the good folks over at Hamas have indeed said Obama is their favorite among the current candidates for President.
Hamas' top political adviser, Ahmed Yousef, embraced the Obama campaign Sunday in an interview on WABC radio, saying, "We like Mr. Obama. We hope he will [win] the election."
He compared the Illinois senator to President John F. Kennedy, saying he was a "great man with great principle, and he has a vision to change America to make it in a position to lead the world community but not with domination and arrogance."
Could it be because they know Barry went to a church which reprinted a copy of their manifesto on their website??
So, as far as this goes, it seems McCain's bearings are just fine.
